It adds piquancy to stews, casseroles, and sauces, especially cheese, barbeque, and shellfish sauces. It can be used in the making of biscuits, marinades, pickles, ketchups, chutneys and smoked foods. It is an ingredient of Worcestershire sauce and is frequently used in curries.
